Matthew Kirwin

Matthew Kirwin serves as the Chief Training Instructor (CTI) for EPECARE.  He started his security/law enforcement career in 1997 and he has held positions in management and investigations.  Matt became a CPR instructor in 1995 and an EMT in 1996.  He was also a co-instructor for several EMT classes.  He currently works at Massachusetts General Hospital as a Special State Police Officer where he has been teaching First Responder and basic life support 2003.  He also has completed Firefighter I training.

Matt graduated from Westfield State College with a double major in Criminal Justice and Psychology.  Matt has always had an interest in wilderness first aid and pre-hospital care and has recently channeled these interests and experiences into teaching real-world emergency medical education for individuals living and working in resource limited communities.  He credits this newfound passion from a brief visit to Haiti where he volunteered as a First Responder/disaster preparedness instructor for Zanmi Lasante, a non-profit organization and allied with Partners in Health.  As a hobby, Matt likes to work on “do it yourself” projects at home.
